Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein said Tuesday that there was no reason for Ya'akov Ganot not to be appointed as director general of the Defense Ministry. The Movement for Quality Government had asked Weinstein to prevent the appointment, because he had been tried on corruption charges. Ganot was subsequently acquitted.
Weinstein wrote to the group that if Defense Minister Ehud Barak wished to choose Ganot for the position, he was free to do so.
