Assad Hosts Kuntar

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad met Monday with Samir Kuntar, the Fatah terrorist from Lebanon who was released two years ago in a prisoner swap with Hizbullah after being held by Israel for the 1979 murders of members of the Haran family and policeman Eliyahu Shachar in a raid on Nahariya. Hizbullah received two of its terrorists and the bodies of 200 other terrorists who were killed in action in exchange for the bodies of Israeli soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, whose abduction ignited the 2006 Lebanon War. Two years ago, Al-Assad presented Kuntar with Syria's highest medal.

The official Syrian news agency says the two discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and Hizbullah's role in "defending against threats on its security and stability."
