Rumors still abound that U.S. President Barack H. Obama was actually born outside the United States – something that would disqualify him from serving as president – and that the birth certificate that he produced, showing that he was born in Hawaii, was forged. In order to allay those rumors, the new governor of Hawaii, Neil Abercrombie, told Obama over the weekend that he intends to produce the documentation that proves that the President was born in Hawaii.

In an interview, Abercrombie told the New York Times that the lingering doubts about Obama's birthplace that have been publicized in the media are “an insult to his mother and to his father, and I knew his mother and father; they were my friends, and I have an emotional interest in that. It’s an emotional insult. It is disrespectful to the president; it is disrespectful to the office.”
