A television network in Slovakia has shown a film which depicts the saving of three Jewish families during the Holocaust by a local farmer.
Between July 1944 and April 1945, the Germans had taken over the government in Slovakia and treated the remaining Jewish population as well as the Slovak population with an iron hand. The farmer took a huge risk by saving the Jewish families, since had even a single Jew been found in his home, he would have been shot and his home burned.
