New Mount of Olives Neighborhood

Work began Wednesday morning on a new neighborhood on the site of Beit Orot yeshiva on the ridge of the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem's Old City. A week ago, the Jerusalem municipality's local planning and building commission approved the building of 18 housing units in three three-storey buildings for the families of students learning at the Hesder yeshiva, which combines religious study and military service. Another goal is to develop the educational campus.

The yeshiva forms part of an urban Jewish contiguity with the Hebrew University campus on Mount Scopus and the nearby French Hill neighborhood.
