A ship from Moldova on its way to Israel sank in stormy waters off Ashdod Sunday morning. Ship crew radioed into Ashdod port with an SOS message, and said that the ship was taking on water rapidly and was likely to sink soon. IDF ships were on their way out to the ship, which is 11 kilometers out to sea to rescue the 11 crew members, who managed to get off the ship into rescue craft before it sank. The ship was carrying 3,000 tons of steel.

In the north, flying traffic stoplights which were uprooted by the high winds have been wreaking havoc for drivers. Some stoplights fell into roads, while others were lifted by the wind, alighting on cars and roofs of buildings. In many places stoplights have stopped working altogether, and traffic in several towns and cities in the north is snarled.
