The Knesset State Control Committee is scheduled to discuss, on Wednesday, new procedures for examinations for candidates for the rabbinate and rabbinical courts.
The procedures were developed in the wake of complaints by candidates five months ago. Those complaints included a wait of 10 months to two years for results of the exams. The director-general of the Chief Rabbinate attributed the problems to a significant increase in the number of candidates, strict criteria for those grading the exams and other legal pressures.
