Members of the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church are planning to demonstrate on behalf of their religion outside of Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Berlin, Yeshiva Torah Teminah, and Chabad of Kensington in Brooklyn on Monday afternoon, according to The Brooklyn Paper. A similar anti-Semitic demonstration took place a year ago.
Local religious and political leaders in the Midwood neighborhood of Brooklyn are preparing to protest in response.
New York Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who plans to be among the counterdemonstrators, told the newspaper, “The Westboro Baptist Church is nothing more than a veiled neo-Nazi group spewing venom and bile indiscriminately. I cannot and will not stand idly by while these sick individuals disparage and vilify Jews, rehashing age-old anti-Semitic canards such as that the Jews killed Jesus.”
