Jerusalem City Attorney Yossi Havilio announced on Tuesday that he is retiring after ten years in office. In a letter to Mayor Nir Barkat, Havilio said he will leave in about half a year.
Barkat filed a serious complaint against Havilio in April with the ethics committee of the bar association regarding the controversy at Jonathan (Pollard) House (Beit Yehonatan) in a Jewish-Arab neighborhood near the Old City. In his complaint, the mayor accused the attorney with presenting the city council with an incorrect and slanted opinion and intentionally withholding important and substantial facts in a dictatorial fashion in an attempt to mislead the council in abuse of his position and a conflict of interest.
