The Magen David Adom (Red Star of David) emergency service is raising its level of readiness nationwide, ahead of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, which starts Wednesday evening.

The service will stay on high alert through the end of the Sabbath on Saturday night and return to high preparedness for the Yom Kippur fast a week from Friday, as well as the Sukkot holiday, starting two weeks from Wednesday evening.
