MK Miri Regev of Kadima proposed on Monday that in order to bring Israel and the PA closer, negotiations should start around the economy. She brought the example of China and Taiwan, who recently signed an economic agreement that benefits both countries, despite large political differences between the two.
"The problems will not be solved within a year, so we might need to start an economic process that will bring the two nations closer. The core issues should be taken out of the discussion," said Regev and added: "The Middle East is not ready for democratic processes. You can not force a political settlement. When you force a political settlement it returns to you like a boomerang."
