Governor Stanley Fischer of the Bank of Israel declared Monday that "We are in the land of Israel thanks to the religious and hareidi-religious." Speaking at a hareidi economic conference, Professor Fischer said he was happy to hear that the hareidi sector was ready to take an active role in the labor market, like other sectors. Fischer called on all levels of Israeli society to find the common denominator with the hareidi public to help it integrate into the labor market.

Last week, the governor told the board of directors of the World Jewish Congress at its meeting in Jerusalem that the percentage of hareidi men and Arab women were especially low and would have to grow so that the economy could grow.
