In response to reporters' questions Sunday, a spokesperson for Interior Minister Eli Yishai's office said that despite Yishai's comments earlier, summer time would not be reinstated after Yom Kippur. “It is just not doable, and it will not be done,” the spokesperson said. Earlier, Yishai said at the Sunday cabinet meeting that “I, more than anyone, like summer time. This is not a religious or political matter, but something that is important to all Israelis.”

Speaking in an interview, MK Roni Bar-on (Kadima) called Yishai's comment on reinstating summer time after Yom Kippur “laughable.”
