At least five people were killed and 39 injured Saturday night in the southern Russian region of Dagestan. The dead and injured were victims of a suicide bomber's ramming a military vehicle that was carrying explosives with his car. The perpetrator is believed to be a member of the area's Islamist insurgency, which is demanding independence and implementation of Islamic law. Earlier, a government minister was injured and his driver killed in a car bombing in the regional capital of Makhachkala.
