The Iranian news agency IRNA said Friday that millions across the country would take part in Jerusalem Day events, declared by Ayatollah Ruollah Homeini for the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in support of anti-Israel Arabs. Government and opposition leaders are expected to take part in the demonstrations, leading to fears of clashes between demonstrators and security forces.
Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah is scheduled to address a rally in southern Beirut. He will discuss the resumption of direct talks between Israel and the Palestinian authority, and impending indictments against Hizbullah members for the assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Al-Hariri.
