The government is scheduled to vote Sunday on the appointment of Southern Commander Yoav Galant to become the 20th chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces.

The cabinet is expected to accept Defense Minister Ehud Barak's recommendation that Galant get the job in early 2011, when Lieutenant-General Gabi Ashkenazi steps down.
