Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom said Thursday, "In the last few days, we received unequivocal proof that the real obstacle to peace is terror and not construction in the settlements."
Shalom said the demand for a freeze on that construction never prevented negotiations and there's no reason why it should now, adding that maybe it is an excuse that will move the Palestinain Authority to withdraw from the direct talks set to resume in Washington Thursday afternoon.
