State Attorney Yehuda Weinstein issued an order Thursday that would limit the period of time a case could be investigated without an indictment being issued. The time limits would range from six months to 2 years, depending on the severity of the crimes in question. After the maximum time alloted, police would have to seek an indictment – or drop the investigation. A Justice Ministry official said that there were great advantages to speeding up the indictment process, both for the court system and the defendant.
