In his speech marking the opening of the trial season at the Tel Aviv District Court, Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman slammed the Supreme Court regarding its lenient policy on illegal aliens in Israel. "Israel faces an existential threat in light of the wave of infiltrators from the border with Egypt," he said. "Every month, some 1,200 people enter the State of Israel illegally from various countries."

"Look what is happening in Eilat or in Arad," he added. "I do not know when any of you were last in Tel Aviv’s central bus station, but it is horrible what is happening there. This is a terrible phenomenon for the country. It is our duty to take all available measures to combat this phenomenon, which affects every resident of the State of Israel."
