President Shimon Peres will travel Thursday to Italy to meet with Pope Benedict the 16th. The meeting between the two will take place at the Pope's summer residence, Castelo Gondolfo.
Peres will update the Pope on Israel's position regarding the negotiations between Israel and the PA, and will ask for his help in the retrieval of abducted soldier Gilad Shalit.They will also discuss Iran's nuclear arms and its implications for the Middle East as well as strengthening strategic ties between Israel and the Vatican.
