According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, there were over 65,000 apartments in Israel under construction in Israel. The CBS said this was the largest number of apartments under construction since the end of 2002. Some 18,000 units were started in the first half of 2010, a 17% rise in the number over the same period last year. Most of the new apartments are being built in the center of the country. There has been a 10% drop in the number of building starts in Jerusalem this year, compared to last.
