U.S.: 30 Months for Sending Money to Iran

A federal court in New York sentenced a 34-year-old Tehran native to two-and-a-half years in prison Monday for violating the ban on commerce with Iran. Mahmoud Reza Banki was convicted in June of operating an illegal business to transfer money to the Islamic Republic.

He was ordered to pay the government $3.3 million, the amount that had been sent to Iran.
