After video evidence has been released of MK Haneen Zoabi (Balad) participating in the flotilla incident, Interior Minister MK Anastasia Michaeli (Yisrael Beiteinu) has called for her citizenship to be revoked. Video footage shows Zoabi standing in front of armed militants as well as trying to prevent injured Israeli soldiers from being evacuated.
Michaeli stated, "There are elected officials who make decisions on issues that decide the fate for the State of Israel, but in practice operate as the enemy. The State of Israel today, still struggling with existential issues, cannot afford a fifth column.There is no room for terrorists in the Israeli Knesset."
Zoabi is Israel's first ever female Arab Knesset Member. In past interviews she has defended her stance and made clear her identification with her Arab ethnicity.
