Thousands are expected at the 23rd annual Tzfat (Safed) Klezmer Festival, in the northern city known as one of the first homes of klezmer music and as the birthplace of the Kabbalah. Events will take place at various venues throughout the city. Both impromptu street musicians and organized events are expected on almost every corner.
On the festival's last night, the recently restored 700-year-old "Khan of the White Donkey" building in the Artist's Quarter will host violinist Oren Tzor and instrumentalist Nadav Bahar.
Other musicians will be Channan Bar-Sela and Aharon Razel. Special Shlomo Carlebach-style performances will be organized by the local Carlebach synagogue and will feature Chaim David, Yehudah Katz, Ben Zion Solomon and Sons, Binyamin Nakonechny and Meir Glaser.
