Report: US Tells PA Direct Talks Now - Or Else

A weekend report in the Arab media said that the Obama administration had informed Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas that it wanted direct talks with Israel to begin as soon as possible – within the next month – and that if the PA refused to do so, the U.S. would halt its efforts to set up a Palestinian state, and even halt financial aid to the PA. PA officials responded angrily to the report, telling reporters that they would not allow themselves to be threatened by President Obama or anyone else. The report was quoted on Israel Radio.
