In an article in the London-based Arabic language Ash-Sharq Il-Awsat on Thursday, Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer appealed to Arab leaders meeting in Cairo to push the Palestinian Authority into conducting direct talks with Israel. The members of the Arab League are hearing a report from PA chief Mahmoud Abbas about the indirect talks with Israel, and will make recommendations on whether or not to proceed with direct talks.

In the article, Ben-Eliezer said that it would be “a shame for the Palestinians to lose this opportunity” to work with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who is interested in reaching an agreement with the PA.
