Israeli sources said that Defense Minister Ehud Barak, who is in Washington meeting U.S. officials, has made significant progress in Israel's efforts to obtain the JSS fighter plane, still under development, and set to be the most advanced fighter plane in the world. Barak has been meeting military and diplomatic officials over the past week, discussing Israel's relationship with the U.S., and the peace process. Speaking last night, Barak said that “the security relationship between Israel and the United States is deep. This relationship is a bedrock of Israel's defense that cannot be dislodged. Our close relationship provides benefit for both countries,” Barak said.
