Paraguay rebel Severiano Martinez was shot to death early Thursday morning by local police during an exchange of gunfire along the border between Bolivia and Paraguay. Martinez stood at the head of an armed group trained by Colombian rebels and had been charged with several murders and abductions, including the murder of the former president's daughter in 2004.
