A special envoy of the French president is expected to join the German mediator in Cairo in order to participate in negotiations that will attempt to remove obstacles that prevent the completion of a deal for the release of captured IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.

According to Israel Radio, senior Israeli representatives are also expected to participate in the meetings.
