Friends and family of Haim Perlman, accused of murdering several Arabs, said Tuesday that the Shabak (General Security Service) had been putting on several “shows” in recent weeks in order to justify Perlman's imprisonment. Referring specifically to the questioning of far-left activist Yonatan Shapiro this week, after he was arrested for spraying leftist graffiti on the walls of the Warsaw Ghetto against Israel's presence in Judea and Samaria, friends of Perlman said that Shapiro was arrested in order to “prove” that the Shabak was going after leftists, not just rightists.

But, they added, the  treatment Perlman received, being forbidden to meet with an attorney and having many of his rights taken away, was much harsher than anything done to leftists.
