The homosexual community in Tel Aviv has chosen to kick off a campaign billing itself as the homosexual capital of the world Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m., before the end of the Ninth of Av fast, which commemorates the destruction of the first and second Temples in Jerusalem.

Part of the 300,000-shekel kickoff is funded by the city and by the tourism office. The tourism office said it's like funding for any other event that promotes tourism to the city. It did not have an answer about the timing of the campaign.
