Cabinet Vote on Raising Minimum Wage Delayed a Week

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu delayed the cabinet vote on raising the minimum wage by a week on Sunday. The vote was delayed after it was apparent the vote would end in a tie.

Treasurer Yuval Steinitz refused to support negative income tax in exchange for no rise in the minimum wage, as demanded by some of the ministers. Steinitz and Netanyahu oppose to a proposal by Member of Knesset Amir Peretz (Labor) that would cost employers five billion shekels over the next two years.
