Obama's special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, visited the Kerem Shalom crossing and examined the implementation of the government's decision to increase the amount of goods allowed into Gaza.
On Wednesday some150 trucks entered Gaza through the crossing. In the coming weeks the rate is expected to reach some 250 per day.
