A new British film about the Mandate period will portray the Israel freedom fighters who fought against the British occupying forces as “terrorists,” Israeli veterans of the 1948 War of Liberation said. The film, to be called “The Promised Land,” is being filmed in “Palestine,” according to its producers. The film is currently in production, they said.
Yair Stern, son of Israeli freedom fighter Avraham (“Yair”) Stern, was consulted, along with other veterans, for information about the movie by its producers. Stern told Israeli reporters Tuesday that he and the other consultants dropped the project when they realized what the producers were up to. “Their whole attitude is negative. They portray the Arabs as living here peacefully, until the Jews came and started killing them for no reason. This movie is a terrible insult to the Zionist enterprise,” he said.
