Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan will be leaving at the beginning of the Jewish month of Elul as manager of the rabbinic court system after holding the position for 21 years. His name has been mentioned in connection with recent problems in appointing new judges to the courts, and the committee to appoint new judges recently decided to oust Ben-Dahan and put a four-year limit on the position with an extension of two years at most.
In response to a question by Arutz Sheva, Ben-Dahan said on Thursday, "I haven't met anyone yet who said this step was justified. Whoever I meet says the step was not appropriate. It's certainly a bit surprising the way it was done, but now there's no way to send the wheel back"
