Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Wednesday, in a lecture at the National Security Studies Center of Haifa University, that "it's time that Israel got rid of the culture of inquiry commissions."

"I hope that the Prime Minister will oppose the establishment of such a committee. All it will achieve is infighting between the different public institutions and a public discourse that waits with baited breath to see ‘Who will be investigated',' Who will be fired ',' Who will pay the price’. We do not need committees to know what is right and wrong, moral and immoral."

Olmert himself suffered politically due to the commission of inquiry set up to investigate the Second Lebanon War.
