An estimated 100,000 people attended the funeral of former Chief Sephardic Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu in Jerusalem Monday evening.
The rabbi was buried next to 18th-century scholar Rabbi Chaim Yitzchak David Azoulai, (the Chida), a Jerusalem-born rabbi, whose remains Rabbi Eliyahu helped return to Jerusalem from Italy, where he lived out his life.
