Rabbi Shalom-Dov Wolpe, chairman of the Eretz Yisrael Shelanu (Our Land of Israel/Israel is Our Land) movement, issued a special mourning announcement following the passing of former chief Sephardic rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu on Monday: One of the greatest leaders of Israel has been lost, one who fought courageously for the completeness of the Land of Israel, and the love of Israel surged within him."

The statement continued, "Those who are loyal to the Torah of Israel and the Land of Israel must now become stronger and follow in his footsteps."
