The family of former Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu asked Monday for increased prayer on his behalf following a deterioration in his condition. The call for increased prayer comes two weeks after a number of prayer rallies on the rabbi's behalf.
The rabbi's son, Tzfat Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu told Arutz Sheva's Mitconenim Ligeula (Preparing for Redemption) program that the deterioration is not a sudden thing but something slow that has been developing since his father was admitted to the intensive care unit at Sha'arei Tzedek Medical Center in Jerusalem last year. The younger Eliyahu said, "Suddenly you see that things are going backwards, not forward." He added that his father is conscious, but his suffering makes things impossible.
