Kadima head Tsipi Livni expressed satisfaction at the opening of indirect proximity talks between Israel and Palestinian Authority, and said she hoped that the negotiations would be conducted sincerely, and not as an attempt by each side to expose the other as being less interested in peace.
“The purpose of the talks must be to reach an agreement, not just to conduct negotiations,” Livni said. “The question is, are the two sides serious, or are both, or either side, trying to waste time and expose their partner as the one that does not want to reach an agreement.” The true test of whether the talks are worth the effort, she said, are whether or not there are results.
