The London Sunday Telegraph reported that Iran has made a deal to purchase uranium from Zimbabwe. The secret deal would see the African country receive oil in exchange for its uranium. The report said that the deal was signed last month, after a visit to Tehran by a top assistant of Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe.

Mugabe said in a statement that Zimbabwe “"remains resolute in defending Zimbabwe's right to exercise it sovereignty over its natural resources. We have equally supported Iran's right to peaceful use of nuclear energy as enshrined in the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty," he said.
