A series of strong earthquakes struck China's western Qinghai province Wednesday morning, toppling homes and killing at least 67 people while burying many others in a mountainous rural area. The United States Geological Survey reported on its internet site that a massive 6.9 magnitude quake struck southern Qinghai, near Tibet, and was followed by three smaller quakes in the same area.
