The Western Wall Heritage Fund has produced a Friday night prayer book (siddur in Hebrew) to accomodate the dramatic rise in the number of Jews without a religious background, particularly from abroad, who are coming to the Western Wall to welcome Shabbat (the Sabbath). The Kotel Siddur, edited by Rabbi Shlomo Gestetner of the Mayanot Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, contains the prayers in Hebrew with English transliteration and explanations of the prayers.
The prayer book has been donated by Martin and Melanie Glatt from the leadership of the Johannesburg, South Africa Jewish community. Hardcover copies will be distributed at the Western Wall plaza. Softcover versions are available for bulk purchase.
