Knesset Economics Committee Chairman Ofir Akunis called on the treasury on Sunday to present a clear, detailed timetable soon for funding of railroad lines from Haifa to Beit She'an in the east and Carmiel in the western Galilee. The Likud MK made the call during a committee tour of the Israel Railways new control center and maintenance center in Haifa.

The project was sent by the government to the Public Works Authority, but the finance ministry's failure to sign off on the program is preventing the authority from planning and executing it. Akunis said the investment that has been approved is only the beginning.
