Gun Battles in Afghanistan Following Suicide Attacks
Afghan officials have reported that suicide attackers have hit at least two locations in the main city near NATO occupation forces in the south and a firefight is currently raging. Government spokesman Dawood Ahmadi says the attacks in Lashkar Gah in Helmand province targeted a government office and a charity that offers assistance to farmers. He said Wednesday there has been at least one explosion but did not have information on casualties. He says that Western-backed security forces are currently fighting the rebels.
