Sarkozy's Identity Debate Caused Return to Le Pen Party

Opponents of French President Nicholas Sarkozy said that the president's decision to initiate a public discussion about issues like immigration and the Muslim burka convinced French voters to return to Jean Marie Le Pen's National Front party. Le Pen's right-wing party received about 12 per cent of the votes in the first round of regional elections.
