Diaspora Affairs Minister, Yuli Edelstein, called on the government to encourage immigration and to invest resources to strengthen ties with world Jewry at a conference held in the Knesset,.
"Israel should invest more money to strengthen ties with Diaspora Jews around the world. The government's decision yesterday, to return Israeli scientists living aborad is a step in the right direction, " he said, adding "but its not enough to be good at only high-tech and medicine, Jews must have a common denominator, a connection to Israel and Judaism. Without such a connection we can not promote and strengthen ties with Diaspora Jews."
