At the opening of Sunday's cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that the U.S. and and Israel had common interests, and that Israel would operate according to its interests. The brouhaha over the construction of 1,600 homes in Ramat Shlomo would pass, he said. “My friend Benny Begin said that 'I was once young and now I am mature.' We have seen crises in the past. I would suggest that we calm down and not get carried away,” Netanyahu said. He added that the government had set up a committee to prevent “regretful incidents” in the future.
