Ir David Jews Against Baruch Marzel's Planned March
Members of the Elad organization, which represents Jewish residents of Jerusalem’s ancient City of David, announced their opposition to activist Baruch Marzel’s planned protest march through their mixed Jewish-Arab neighborhood. Drawing a comparison between demonstrations that call for the expulsion of Jews to demonstrations that call for the expulsion of Arabs, local Jews equated Marzel’s presence with that of European-funded organizations that often hold protests against Jewish residents and incite Arab youth against their Jewish neighbors.
“We ask that the activists from all sides avoid such activity and let us live in peace, in good neighborliness, and without unnecessary provocations,” the organization said. The non-profit plans to petition MK Professor Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) with a request to block the rally currently scheduled for March 21.
