Gazans fired a Kassam (also spelled Qassam) rocket which hit the Eshkol Regional Council area Thursday afternoon. No injuries or damage has been reported. The rocket was shot from the northern Gaza strip. The Eshklol Region, located in Israel's southern Negev area has suffered numerous rocket attacks, most landing in open areas, but in the past some civilians have been killed.
The unguided rockets are named after Izz ad-Din al-Qassam, a Syrian Arab who led terrorist attacks against Jewish residents of the land of Israel in the 1930s.
